Update: iPad has GPS so long as you buy the 3G enabled device.
I would say I like it 80%. So first the 20% of why I don’t like it. No multi tasking. The reason being that it eliminates the ability for online collaboration while reviewing documents or interaction between multiple participants during gaming etc. This is s critical mistake. I understand they did it to protect battery life and enable the 10 hours they claim but I believe this choice should have been left to the user and not mandated by Apple. No GPS as far as I can work out. I mean come on what does not have GPS these days. Everything is location based or tagged. Even digital camera’s are arriving on shelves GPS enabled. So now I am sitting in a coffee shop and I can’t broadcast where I am so my friends can find me. Ok not my cup of tea but from the growth of all things Foursquare this was another major error. No camera. How did they not put a front facing camera into this thing. I mean come on Apple. You were the guys that put a camera into ever notebook before they were called notebooks. Get a life. I mean so that means no Skype video. You know the rest.
Why I like it sort of.
10 hours of battery life. Very cool. Great tool to surf and read e-mail. I am assuming that the mail client has all the required capabilities. However there are a few unknowns here. Does it give you the ability to have more than one user. Does it have the ability to have more than one mail account. What about logging in and out. What about different browsers like Firefox. Do I have to use Safari? I did not see anything that said I could. This immediately restricts the usefulness of the device. Pictures great. Bluetooth great. watching movies great. No Adobe Flash bad. That immediately means no Hulu. Big bad.
I think there are alot of unknowns out there still. We will have to watch and see as the reviews come out.
Oh was that last paragraph why I liked it or was it was it why I sort of liked it but had more questions than answers.
